The fourth edition of the European Poker Tour charitable tournament is coming up. This year’s edition will be held in Poland.
Similar tournaments are popular especially in the United States, where poker events are organised by organisations such as World Poker Tour, as well as celebrities like golfer Tiger Woods, Vanessa Selbst and Jennifer Harman. There is even a tournament called Charity Series of Poker, a series of charity tournaments played in several casinos across the United States.
EPT Poland was originated by former MP Artur Górczyński (former head of a parliamentary group dedicated to regulating poker games). The first edition was held in April 2015 and was won by EPT commentator Radoslaw Jedynak.
The previous three editions were attended, among others, by Dominik Pańka, Marcin Horecki, Paweł Brzeski, Jan Przysucha, Paweł Majewski, Wojciech Łozowski, Tomasz Zieliński, Michał Wiśniewski, Michał Pol, Peter Karpiński, Tomasz Łapiński and Free Poker spokesman Paweł Purski.
The nearest opportunity to take part in in EPT Poland will begin next week. The tournament will be held in Warsaw’s Hit Casino. According to Pokerbreak, the entry fee will be 100 PLN; re-buys will be possible. Players will start with 30,000 chips, the blind levels will last 25 minutes. On his fanpage, Górczyński writes “I would like to remind players about the three main objectives of the tournament. The first one is charity (we are currently taking care of the final details with the beneficiary of this year’s edition).
The second goal, which is equally important, is the popularization of poker. We want to show society and especially politicians, that #poker is a very different game to the one that exists in their sick minds!!! This is particularly important due to the planned changes to the gambling bill. I hope this mobilises us to take part in the tournament.
