Prosecutors from Bialystok investigating the supervision of the Ministry of Finance on gambling they wanted to interrogate former prime minister Donald Tusk. They had not.
The investigation was transferred to Poznan. Gambling scandal could sink the government of Donald Tusk already in 2009. That has not happened. PO-PSL coalition emerged from the scandal virtually unscathed. A year ago, when once again it was close to the scandal, the investigation conducted by the Prosecutor’s Office in Bialystok, concerning irregularities in the Ministry of Finance in connection with the supervision and regulation of gambling market has been forwarded to the Appellate Prosecutor’s Office in Poznan.
This happened shortly after the investigators from the Podlasie wanted to put the allegations to Jacek Kapica, Deputy Minister of Finance supervising the gambling market. The case wrote portal Tvn24.pl year ago. However, the investigation materials, which are currently being conducted in Poznan, that Kapica did not take the decision alone. They were to be consulted at the highest government levels.
Tusk decided to choose the one which prohibited activities in Poland AWP, ie. one-armed bandits. As a result of the introduction of these regulations the Treasury not only lost billions of zlotys due to tax paid on each slot machine gambling, but also in the future may also pay huge compensation to the owners vending machines.
