Online gambling is very different in European countries, a uniform EU directive or even the internal market for services for online casinos or betting on the internet.

While most EU countries allow state-owned and private providers – subject to conditions – to be tax-deductible and tax-free in Hungary, a rigorous state monopoly applies in Hungary – with exceptions for various favorites.

In Hungary, a “money laundering ban” was introduced in 2012, but this did not extend to so-called “trustworthy” casino operators with state licenses.

This law has already made it clear that the Orbán Government is introducing only monopolies to ultimately protect political and family-related favorites.
